Starting on 28 October through the 6 November 2024, the Institute of European Studies of Macau (IEEM) with the cooperation of the University of Maastricht organizes again in 2024 three academic events on Intellectual Property Law. These programmes are the following:
- The 17th IEEM Intellectual Property School
The 17th IEEM Intellectual Property School will take place between 28 October and 1 November 2024 in the Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau.
The School, which has attracted students from all over the world, aims to introduce them to Intellectual Property Law from a practical and international perspective, including the discussion of practical cases in mock-trials. The classes are led by Prof. Anselm Kamperman Sanders from Maastricht University, the Netherlands and Dr. Christopher Heath from the European Patent Office, Germany.
- The 20th IEEM Intellectual Property Seminar
The IP School is followed by the 20th IEEM Intellectual Property Seminar which will be held on 4 and 5 November 2024 in the Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau and delve on the burning issue of Proportionality in Intellectual Property Law.
The seminar for the first day, looks at the roots and justifications of proportionality, and two major instances where this concept will be applied: at the stage of lawmaking, and in the context of enforcement. The third part will look at specific cases of proportionality.
For this edition of the seminar, the IEEM has invited scholars from the Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau.
- The Professional IP Update
The Professional IP Update session shall be held on 6 November 2024 in collaboration with the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Department in the latter’s premises.
The Annual Hong Kong IP Update is meant to offer an overview over the latest IP developments in Asia and Europe. All speakers in the IEEM IP Seminar will attend the HK session.
