Modern intellectual property (IP) law often encounters the difficulty that enforcement would require suing private consumers, e.g., in cases of sharing of songs or film works on peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing networks. The recent Soribada1 case appears to be part of a new trend on the part of copyright owners to take legal action against intermediaries. There is a risk that online service providers (OSPs) in Korea could find themselves liable for copyright infringements committed by their users on peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing networks.
