From 1969 to 1976
Assistent Lecturer at the Lourenço Marques University, Mozambique from 1969 to 1971; MSc and after PhD student at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in Manchester, England, from 1971 to 1975; Auxiliar Professor at the University of Maputo, Mozambique in 1975/76.

From 1976 to 1988
Auxiliar Professor at the University of Aveiro from 1977 to 1979; Associated Professor at the University of Aveiro from 1979 to 1987; Tenured Full Professor at the University of Aveiro in 1987. Academic and scientific interests in Communications Systems, Computer Networks, Data Communicatios Standards.
